AFOSR XROMM System Arrived

The XROMM system arrived! This medical system consists of two fluoroscopes with 16” intensifiers that enable us to image skeletal motion of freely flying birds at high frame rates of 1000 fps or more in 3D. The setup was sponsored by a DURIP from AFOSR to determine how bird wings morph and inspire next generation morphing wings in a major project with labs at Stanford, UBC, UCLA, Texas A&M, and U. Michigan. The multi university project is under the general leadership of AFOSR and U. Michigan, our lab is leading the bird research effort in collaboration with UBC.
